The Story Behind Star Trolley

For those who want to know the story behind the trolleys, meet Richard Novikas, the owner and driving force behind Star Trolley. Richard’s journey began long before he founded the company in 2020. Growing up in the Northeast, he learned the ins and outs of the business by working alongside his father, who owned and operated trolleys in Cape May year-round and manufactured trolleys in Starke, Florida. In fact, some of the trolleys his family built still grace the streets of St. Petersburg today as part of the city’s fleet.

Fifteen years ago, Richard moved to Florida and entered the transportation industry by starting a moving company, which he ran successfully for a decade. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Richard decided to pursue a new venture, combining his creativity, passion for transportation, and love for showcasing St. Petersburg. He drove his now-iconic all-white fleet of trolleys from New Jersey to St. Petersburg, FL, one by one, and thus, Star Trolley was born.

The fleet of all-white trolleys has quickly become a favorite for weddings, corporate outings, and custom tours, offering a level of style and sophistication that’s hard to match. Star Trolley provides multiple unique experiences—whether it’s a historic tour, a SHINE Mural Festival ride, or the popular holiday lights tours.

When you step aboard one of Star Trolley’s thoughtfully designed trolleys, you’re not just stepping into a vehicle; you’re stepping into a story of craftsmanship, tradition, and a heartfelt passion for making people smile.
